This 2-Ingredient Pretzel Dough is made with just 2 ingredients – Greek yogurt and flour. Make delicious soft pretzels and pretzel bites in no time with this quick and easy no-yeast recipe. Great to make with kids for National Pretzel Day!
GUYS!! I am SO excited!
Remember the 2-Ingredient flatbread I shared with you the other day? Well, it turns out you can make soft pretzels and pretzel bites with the same dough!
I made a batch of both yesterday, and oh. my. goodness. They were amazing!
I think the pretzel bites were my favourite. I brushed them with melted butter and salted them before baking, and they were totally divine. Soft little pillows of crispy-chewy perfection. We devoured them as soon as they came out of the oven.
Check out our no-yeast pizza dough too!
Eat ’em plain, dip them or season them.
We ate our pretzel bites plain, but you could:
- dip them in mustard, peanut butter, hummus or ranch
- brush with garlic butter and sprinkle with dried herbs
- dust them with cinnamon and sugar for a sweet treat!
The soft pretzels were wonderful too. They were amazing dipped in mustard. YUM!
I’m so thrilled to have a new snack that’s totally quick and easy to make, and hello… two ingredients for the dough!
Optional…
I did dip both the pretzel bites and the actual pretzels in a baking soda bath (instructions below) before baking because that’s what I do when I make my traditional regular pretzels (with yeast). You can skip this step, but it makes for a crisper, chewier crust.
I also brushed both with melted butter and sprinkled them with salt before baking. You don’t have to, but they’ll turn out more like soft breadsticks than pretzels if you skip this step.
Ok, let’s do this!
Pretzels first, and then the pretzel bites. Note the different baking times and temperatures for each.
Ingredients
Recipe makes 8 soft pretzels or 150-160 pretzel bites.
- 1 and 3/4 cups self-rising flour (see note below to make your own)
- 1 cup plain greek yogurt
- 3 tbsp butter
- course salt
For baking soda/hot water bath (optional):
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 tbsp baking soda
How to make self-rising flour:
You can make your own self-rising flour by sifting together 2 cups all purpose flour, 1 tbsp baking powder and 1 tsp salt. Use 1 and 3/4 cups of this mixture for the recipe. Store remainder in sandwich bag and label it for next time.

To Make the Dough:
STEP 1: Combine flour and yogurt in a medium size bowl, and stir together until dough forms a loose ball.
STEP 2: Turn out onto a lightly floured counter top and knead for 2-3 minutes until “smooth”. It won’t be perfectly smooth, but that’s ok.
STEP 3: Divide dough into 8 even pieces. I use my pizza rocker-cutter to cut the dough ball into 4 even pieces, and then I cut each of those in half. Each piece will make one soft pretzel, or 18 to 20 pretzel bites.
To Make Soft Pretzels:
STEP 1: Roll a piece of dough into a rope and fold the ends over to form a pretzel. Repeat with the rest of the pieces. If you’ll be making pretzel bites, save one or two pieces of dough.
STEP 2: In a small heat-proof bowl, add 1 tbsp baking soda to 1/2 cup boiling water. Stir until baking soda has dissolved.
STEP 3: With a slotted spoon or a fork, submerge each pretzel into the water for several seconds, and place on a baking stone or baking rack.
STEP 4: Brush pretzels with melted butter and sprinkle with salt.
STEP 5: Bake at 350º for 20 minutes.
To Make Pretzel Bites:
STEP 1: Roll a piece of dough into a rope.
STEP 2: Chop into 1 inch pieces.
STEP 3: Dunk in baking soda/water as instructed in the soft pretzel instructions above.
STEP 4: Place on baking stone or baking sheet, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with salt.
STEP 5: Bake at 425º for 8-10 minutes. **Note that this is a higher temperature than we baked the regular pretzels for.
How easy was that?!
Homemade pretzels any time you want them. 2 Ingredients, no-yeast, and less than a half hour from start to finish.
