Oh, the snowflakes are flying! We’ve had flurries off and on for three days in a row now, and that means it’s time to start making some of our favourite wintery treats! Cinnamon-Sugar Snowflakes are one of our favourite winter-time snacks.
Butter, sugar and cinnamon toasted crispy brown… Mmmmm, I can’t think of a yummier treat to have on a cold, wintery day.
You’re going to love how easy these sweet snowflakes are to make! Only 4 ingredients and they’re reading in 10 minutes.
To make our Cinnamon-Sugar Snowflakes, you’ll need:
- tortillas
- white sugar
- cinnamon
- melted butter
Start by putting your tortillas in the microwave for about 10 seconds. This softens them up so they won’t rip.
Fold a tortilla in half, and then in half again, and cut it as if you were making a paper snowflake.
Place your tortillas on a baking sheet (I used a baking stone), and brush with them with the melted butter.
You’re wondering about my baster aren’t you? It is the BEST baster!
I’ve never been a fan of traditional brush basters because, well… they seem kind of icky to me. I mean, how do you really sanitize those bristles?
You don’t have to worry about that with this awesome Stainless Steel baster!
It’s so easy to clean. You can pop it in the dishwasher, or swish it in some soapy water. I love it!
Now sprinkle your snowflakes generously with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake your snowflakes, at 350 for five to ten minutes. I leave mine in for ten so they crisp right up.
Let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
Mmmmm, so golden brown, crispy and delicious!

beaver tail! I still remember eating one when I was 12yo! It’s a great idea, I’ll do it for the afternoon snack for my daughter. Thank you so much for your lovely ideas

I fell in love with the baster you used and followed your link to purchase one. Unfortunately, the link didn’t take me to THAT baster, but rather to the ordinary silicone baster like the one I have.
Ann Marie
Not exactly sure what baster is shown above, but I too fell in love with THAT baster. There is one by William Bounds that looks similar. I might have to try it out! Great idea. Can’t wait to try it out

Ann Marie, I just found this one on Amazon, so I’ve switched out the link in my post. As far as stainless/silicone basters go, this is more similar than any others I’ve seen. Love it and so simple. The children & I will have a blast! Thank you!
Jessica
Could you use whole wheat tortillas for this?
happyhooligans
I can’t see why not, Jessica. Go for it.
Sandi
Don’t see my question so will try again…that brush looks awesome but the one on Amazon not like it. Pls can you tell where purchased it or the name of it. I have googled but none compare!!
happyhooligans
I’m not sure if you noticed that I updated the link in the post. I found one that is almost exactly the same a day after first publishing the post. Click through and see if you like it better than the purple one I’d originally shared, Sandi. Hope so. 🙂 I bought mine in a small town in Ontario, Canada, so I’m not sure where else it would be available. (p.s. I only see your question here once, so it mustn’t have come through the first time).

Do you bake them on a sheet or right on the oven rack ? I am thinking of doing these with my daughter’s girl scout troop.
happyhooligans
I use the baking stone that you see in the photos, Donna.

Can I use corn tortillas or just flour?
happyhooligans
I imagine you could use whatever you have on hand. I’ve only tried it with the flour tortillas though.
Sabrina
If you don’t eat them right away, how long do they last?
happyhooligans
I couldn’t really say, as we eat them right away. I would imagine they’d keep for a while if you store them in an air tight container so they don’t absorb any humidity.
Melissa
I made these tonight. They are not only easy to make, but they are delicious!
Erika
I made it for holiodays, and it was pretty cool and tasty, and very smart and sipmly. Thank you!
happyhooligans
Yay! I hope they love them! They’re so easy to make!
