Toddlers and preschoolers can make this adorable snowman craft with toilet paper rolls and fabric scraps.
We just love crafting around a winter theme, and these cardboard roll snowmen are one of the cutest winter crafts we’ve made yet.
You can set these snowmen up in a Christmas village display, or use them as table toppers or ornaments, or the kids can simply play with them.
We woke up to a very light dusting of snow this morning. It was gone by mid-morning, but it put me in the mood for some winter crafting.
See all of our toilet roll craft ideas here.
I didn’t have anything planned, but I was able to pull together the supplies to make our snowmen very quickly. The materials are things that you likely have around the house.
To make our toilet roll snowman craft, you’ll need:
Supplies:
- toilet rolls
- white paint
- dried black beans
- buttons
- fabric scraps
- raffia
- orange felt (or foam or construction paper)
Making our snowmen:
We started by painting some toilet paper tubes with white paint. Â We used acrylic, but any paint will do.
Before we continued, we stapled some rafia to the top of the tube so it could be used as a tree ornament.
Next wrap a strip of scrap fabric around the top of the tube (my scraps came from a fleece blanket and a couple of tee shirts). Â We went around the tube first with glue, but after wrapping the strip around, we stapled it, to make sure it stayed in place.
Â
Another strip of scrap fabric (again, glue around the tube first) makes a cute scarf.
We used black beans for the eyes, and some orange craft foam for the noses.
Glue a few buttons down the belly of your snowman ornament, and you’re done!
We placed ours by the fire to dry the glue quickly. Â We always dry our projects by the fire, but nothing we’ve ever made looks as cute as these guys do standing in front of the flames.
I couldn’t resist taking a picture.
Aren’t they sweet?

We just made the snowmen today and my 7-year-old daughter loved it! She pained the tubes, and was able to do everything on her own except for the stapling — I have a rather wide stapler so that made it difficult. Too cute!
