Microwave S’mores have all the delicious flavour of the classic campfire treat, but you can make them all year round in your microwave with this fast and easy, kid-friendly recipe. No roasting required!
S’mores are so delicious and easy to make, but most of us never think to make them unless it’s summertime and we’re gathered around a campfire.
Crazy, isn’t it? Why not make S’mores in the microwave any time you want?
I mean, it’s just chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers. You don’t need a campfire to get them melty!
A couple of years ago, I wrote a round-up of 21 S’mores recipes that you don’t need a campfire for. Most of those recipes call for baking your S’mores in the oven or grilling them on the stovetop.
These S’mores take less than one minute to make and because they’re made in the microwave, your kids will be able to make them with little or no assistance.
Encouraging kids to be independent in the kitchen:
You can encourage your kids to be more independent in the kitchen by giving them small cooking tasks. There are so many snacks that young kids can make by themselves.
My 5 year old has been making scrambled eggs in the microwave for a year now. Sometimes things get a little messy, but every time he tries, he gets a little better.
Microwave s’mores are his latest favourite recipe to make by himself.
How to Make S’mores in the Microwave
For a basic S’more, 3 ingredients are needed:
- Honey Graham Crackers
- Hershey’s Chocolate Bar
- Large Marshmallows
For each S’more, you will use one graham cracker. Break the graham cracker in half and place each piece on a microwave safe plate.
Break off one row of chocolate from a Hershey’s Bar (three squares of chocolate) and place it on one of the graham crackers on the plate.
Place one large marshmallow on the other graham cracker.
Microwave for 15-20 seconds or until the marshmallow expands slightly. Don’t microwave for too long or the marshmallow will become extremely hard.
Remove from the microwave and then stack the two graham crackers creating the S’more.
This is such a fun, classic summer treat without all the work of a campfire.
