We’ve added a few more Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer crafts to our collection this past week. The other day, we made these Christmas light bulb reindeer, and after making our mason lid snowmen the other day, we made this adorable mason jar lid Reindeer ornament.
These reindeer are quick and easy to make, and they’d be perfect as an activity after watching a classic family Christmas movie.
If you happen to have some mason jar lids on hand, and your kids want to get crafty over the holidays, they can make a few of these reindeer to hang on your Christmas tree.
Check out our mason jar lid ornaments with tin foil and sharpies too. They’re also really quick and easy to make!
How to make our Mason Jar Lid Reindeer Ornament
Supplies:
- mason jar lid (inner and outer pieces)
- brown paint
- brown or beige pipe cleaner
- googly eyes
- red pom pom
- glue/glue gun
- thread/cord for hanging
Note: I forgot to include a pipe cleaner in the photo of the supplies in above collage. Sorry!
Making Your Reindeer:
Start by painting both pieces of your mason jar lid brown.
When the paint is dry, glue the pom pom nose to the outer ring of the lid. Then glue the googly eyes about half way up (or slightly lower) on the inner piece of the lid.
To attach the pipe cleaner antlers:
Run an inch or so of hot glue inside the outer rim and press the pipe cleaner into it. (see top-right image in above collage)
Direct the ends of the pipe cleaner out the front side of that outer rim.
Then run a line of hot glue all around the inside of the outer rim piece and press the inner piece of the lid into it and press firmly until the glue holds.
Curl the each piece of pipe cleaner around your finger to form your reindeer’s antlers.
Finish by gluing a loop of thread or cord to the top of the mason jar lid.
Hang your adorable mason jar reindeer ornament on your Christmas tree.
And just for fun, here’s a sneak peek of the snowman ornament we made out of a mason jar after making our reindeer.
Don’t these two make an adorable duo?
Merry Christmas!
