Kids can make this easy snowman craft using a mason jar lid, tissue paper and a few craft scraps. It’s a cute Christmas tree ornament, or a great way to top a mason jar gift.
I got the idea to make these mason lid snowmen after making our mason jar lid reindeer ornaments the other day.
It’s an easy little craft for kids to make, and it’s pretty darn cute.
We made ours as Christmas tree ornaments, but these snowmen would make great lids for a mason jar gift of hot chocolate, homemade bath salts etc.

How to:
Supplies:
- mason jar lid (both pieces)
- white paint
- paint brush
- black pom poms
- orange craft foam or felt
- ribbon scraps
- black tissue paper
- glue/glue gun
- hanging thread/cord
Instructions:
Paint both pieces of the mason jar lid and let them dry.
While you’re waiting for the paint to dry, cut a “carrot nose” from your foam or felt, and cut 2 scraps of ribbon – one for your snowman’s scarf and one for the band on your snowman’s hat.
Glue the pom pom eyes and carrot nose to painted inner piece of the mason jar lid and then glue this inner piece of lid into the outer rim.
Glue the fabric scrap scarf in place.
To make your snowman’s hat, crumple a piece of black tissue paper and glue it to the top of the mason jar lid. Glue the fabric scrap “hat band” across the snowman’s hat.
If you’ll be hanging your ornament, glue a length of thread or cord to the top of the lid.
