Here’s a quick and easy last-minute Halloween treat for class parties or Halloween get-togethers with friends and neighbours.
Halloween Sprinkle Sandwiches! These fun and yummy treats were inspired by the Halloween Fairy Bread that I made last year.
And that Halloween Fairy Bread was inspired by Australian Fairy Bread which is a very popular birthday treat at Aussie birthday parties. Apparently, in Australia, a party just isn’t a party until a plate of fairy bread has been passed around.
Traditionally, fairy bread is made on a single piece of white bread, and cut into triangles or strips. That’s how we made our Halloween Fairy Bread last year, but to make our bread a true Halloween treat, we used cookie cutters shaped like ghosts, bats and cats.
This year, I thought it would be fun to make some rolled up “sprinkle sandwiches” using the fairy bread recipe and a mix of Halloween- coloured sprinkles – green, orange, purple and black.
To make our Halloween Sprinkle Sandwiches, you’ll need:
- white bread
- butter or margarine (you could also use plain or flavoured softened cream cheese)
- sprinkles (also known as 100’s and 1000’s)
Begin by cutting the crusts off of your bread.
Slightly flatten each piece of bread with a rolling pin.
Spread a layer of butter or cream cheese on your bread, and top with a generous sprinkling of… you guessed it… sprinkles!
Roll your bread up, and cut into disks.
Mmmm! Everything’s better with sprinkles!
Happy Halloween!
