This easy handprint apple tree craft is great for an apple theme in preschool. Toddlers and Preschoolers will enjoy exploring new materials and will create a lovely piece of fall art for home or the classroom.
It’s almost apple season, and you know what that means! Apple crafts, apple art and apple treats!
Today we’re making one of my favourite fall tree crafts! Â It’s an adorable apple tree craft with tissue paper and buttons. Â If your little one loves handprint crafts, this will be a hit for sure!
For this apple tree craft, I wanted to use materials that were interesting for the Hooligans to work with.  They love a crafting with textured materials.  Check out the sandpaper, foil and cork trees that we made earlier this week.
Supplies for our handprint apple tree craft:
- wallpaper sample or a paper bag or brown construction paper
- green tissue paper
- red buttons
- white cardboard
- pencil/scissors
Making your apple tree craft:
Begin by tracing your childs’ hand and forearm.
You can use a brown paper bag for this or brown construction paper, but we used some cool wall paper samples that look just like wood.
The tracings became the trunks and branches of the trees.
Add your tissue paper leaves:
Next the Hooligans crumpled up squares of green tissue paper to form the leaves of the tree.
I absolutely LOVE using tissue paper this way for crafts. Â It’s so easy, and pretty much mess-free, and the kids love the whole crumpling part.
Add red button apples:
The final step was to add red buttons as apples.
How easy is that? Â And aren’t they cute?!!

Oh, I love it!! We will definitely have to give this a try when I decide to let go of summer. I still refuse to think about fall crafts. Her school doesn’t start until next week, so I can pretend for one more week. Thank you for sharing at Sharing Saturday!!
