Everyone loves tacos AND everyone loves hotdogs, so why not combine the two? For a family BBQ they’ll never forget, set up a backyard Taco Hotdog bar. Soft, fluffy buns cradling grilled franks, all heaped with your favourite taco toppings… Mmmm! Taco hotdogs! Now that’s the way to eat a hotdog!
Summertime is the best time for creating memories to last a life-time with family. In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday this year, Dempster’s and I are challenging you to create one-of-a-kind moments with your family this summer.
Get bold and creative with your food and your family adventures this Canada Day, and share them with us for a chance to win an inflatable couch for your family to use at the beach, the park, the cottage, or in your own backyard.
For our #breadventure this Canada Day, we’re making taco hotdogs, using Dempster’s softest-ever hot dog buns!
July 1st is always filled with festivities from sun-up to sun-down as we come together to celebrate our country’s birthday.
We’ve come up with some ideas to make the day super-special when it comes to fun and food in our own backyard this Canada Day, and we want you to do the same!
Now, we won’t be spending the whole day in our backyard. Heck no! We’ll take in the parade and the downtown activities, and of course, there will be fireworks on the pier at dark.
In between the festivities though, we’ll be here at home, and I want to make the most of those moments with my family and friends.
First the fun:
Our celebrations will begin with a backyard craft session for all the kids.
We’ll be making shakers and banners to wave at the parade. No need to get fancy here – we’ll use supplies and materials we have around the house and garden. And remember, it’s not about the end result anyway. It’s about getting creative together, and spending time with one another.
That’s what everyone will remember most years from now.
And for the food:
For our backyard BBQ, I’ve come up with a really fun idea.
We’re setting up a taco hotdog bar! The kids are going to go nuts for this because they love hotdogs and tacos, so putting the two together will be a huge hit with my gang.
Taco Hotdogs with Dempster’s Softest-Ever Hot Dog Buns
The best BBQ starts with the best buns.
The best BBQ starts with the best buns. Grab this $1 OFF coupon for Dempster’s Softest-Ever Hot Dog or Hamburger Buns.
I love a classic bun that compliments but doesn’t compete with what I’m serving on it, so for hamburgers, hotdogs, sloppy-Joes or these taco dogs, Dempster’s Softest-Ever hot dog and hamburger buns are a must.
Next up: dogs and all of your favourite taco toppings.
For us that’s:
- seasoned taco meat
- diced tomatoes
- mashed avocado with a dash of salt and pepper,
- shredded lettuce
- green onions
- all topped with a generous sprinkling of shredded cheese
Get as adventurous as you’d like – think jalapeño peppers, black olives, salsa…
Now, that’s how you create a #breadventure, my friend.
I have a feeling the taco hotdog bar might be the start of a new Canada Day tradition for our family.
And now, Dempster’s and I want you to create a meaningful #breadventure with your family!
