These simple snowflake ornaments were so quick and easy to make with cardboard and fluffy yarn. Â They’re perfect as a last minute Christmas craft for your toddler either at home or at daycare.
Little fingers will love the soft and fluffy feeling of these homemade ornaments, and they’ll be so proud to hang them on the Christmas tree.

Supplies:
- White cardboard (you can paint a panel of a cereal box)
- Fluffy white yarn (we used Bernat Pipsqueak)
- Acrylic craft paints (your choice of colours)
- Snowflake template (see note below)
I found a template that I liked online, but it was a bit fancy for my liking, so I traced it, leaving out details. Â I ended up with this funky, little straight lined snowflake.
I wanted our snowflakes to look very simple, so I went with this template.
I then traced this on my cardboard several times, and voila, I had a bunch of snowflakes for the hooligans to decorate.
I set out a  selection acrylic craft paints in “icy” colours:  a metallic blue, a cool blue and a frosty pink, and the Hooligans painted their ornaments.
While they were painting, I measured out a few feet of the yarn, and chopped it up into small pieces (1/4 to 1/2 inch lengths).
When their ornaments were dry, the Hooligans brushed and dabbed the front of the ornament with glue, and then pressed the bits of fluffy yarn into the glue.
Some chose to simply flip the ornament upside down, and press it into the tray of yarn. Â That worked too. Â This is what we ended up with.
Once dry, I punched a hole in the top, and tied a loop of metallic thread for hanging.
I really loved the frosted look that the Pipsqueak yarn gave the snowflakes. Â These are going to look pretty on the Christmas tree!
