Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, and happy long weekend! It’s time for some turkey crafts!
Yes, fall, is officially underway here in Canada and the kids and I have been busy making crafts for Thanksgiving. I thought it would be fun to round up a bunch for your toddlers and preschoolers to work on in the coming weeks.
These are all of the turkey crafts that we’ve made here in my daycare over the years. They’re easy enough for little ones to handle, but so fun and adorable that all ages will enjoy making them.
I realize that my American friends still have a few weeks to go until you celebrate Thanksgiving, but that’s ok! Pin these little turkey crafts or keep them handy until you kick off your Thanksgiving celebrations in November. Or better yet, start crafting now at home and in your classrooms so you’ll have your turkey decorations ready when the holiday arrives!
6 Turkey Crafts for Kids to Make
Put some of the beach rocks you collected this summer to good use by making these cute little Turkey Rocks. You can use them as paper weights or as place settings at your Thanksgiving table.
Turn your old, scratched CDs and DVDs into turkey sun catchers to hang in your dining room window. They’ll add some whimsy to your Thanksgiving dinner, and they’re a great way to use discs that you can’t play anymore.
I think these paper plate turkeys are my favourites so far this Thanksgiving season. I just love a paper plate craft, and the colourful process for making the feathers for these guys is just so fun.
When you uncork your wine before the Thanksgiving feast, let your kids make some sweet little wine cork turkeys while you put the finishing touches on the real turkey.
Everyone loves a foot print craft, right? And everyone loves blowing bubbles! This fun turkey craft incorporates both! Kids can trace their feet, and turn them into turkeys. Then they can blow some colourful bubbles to decorate their turkey’s feathers with.
And lastly, grab a cardboard roll and some paint chip samples, and whip up a few of these simple turkey decorations to display on your Thanksgiving table.
