Stained glass painting is an activity that’s really easy to prepare, and it’s popular with kids of all ages.  Even our twos loved it, and produced some really beautiful paintings.

I used painter’s tape to mark off sections on some panels of white cardboard.  

The Hooligans painted each section with their watercolours.  When I was explaining the activity to them, I suggested that they paint each section a different colour, and that they load up their brushes well with paint.  The painted sections will be more defined, and “pop” a little more if the paint colour is intense.

Some chose to paint lightly however, and others chose to paint several adjacent sections the same colour, and you know what?   They all looked great when they were finished.

I wondered if the twos would grasp the concept of using a different colour for each section, and they did!  This little one was meticulous about it.  I was really impressed to see someone so young follow that suggestion.

This one chose to not worry about the tape lines as much, and she painted more loosely, overlapping colours her colours, but the result was just as beautiful as the others, perhaps even more-so as she produced lovely multi-coloured sections.

When your paint has dried (ours only took a few minutes), gently pull the tape off, stand back and admire your work!
